Breed History

The Cavalier King Charles Spaniel traces its roots to the noble lapdogs of Renaissance Europe, especially those favored by King Charles II of England. These elegant spaniels were bred for companionship and were often depicted in paintings alongside royalty. In the 20th century, breeders worked to recreate the traditional look of the breed, leading to the Cavalier we know and love today—a small dog with a big heart and an even bigger legacy of loyalty.

  • Coat: Silky, medium-length, often with feathering on ears, chest, legs, and tail
